Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm & Fire Suppression Small Works / Service Engineer to join our London-based team. The role involves servicing, maintenance, fault-finding, small works installations, system upgrades, and cylinder service exchange coordination across a wide range of fire detection and fixed suppression systems.
A significant proportion of works are carried out within high-voltage (HV) environments. These sites are typically unmanned, so the successful candidate must be confident working independently, maintaining exceptional safety standards, and following strict site procedures at all times.
This role offers long-term development opportunities, including specialist training (e.g. confined space, room integrity testing, manufacturer courses).
Key Responsibilities
High Voltage & Critical Infrastructure Environments
Carry out works within HV substations and critical infrastructure sites
Work safely and independently in unmanned environments
Adhere strictly to site safety rules, RAMS, and permit-to-work systems
Maintain clear communication with control centres and site contacts
Ensure full compliance with health & safety legislation and client procedures
Fire Alarm Systems
Service, fault-find, and maintain conventional and addressable fire alarm systems
Panel upgrades, system extensions, additional device installations, and small works modifications
Cause & effect testing and system commissioning
Experience required with:
Advanced MxPro 4 and 5
Notifier ID3000, Pearl and Inspire (Inspire Training Provided)
Kentec Syncro, Syncro AS, Syncro XT, Sigma XT+, Sigma XT, Sigma ZXT

Aspirating Smoke Detection (ASD) Systems
Service and commission ASD systems
Airflow testing, pipe inspections, and configuration
Experience with:
Xtralis (VESDA range)
Wagner
FAAST
Fire Suppression Systems
Gas Suppression
Service and maintenance of:
CO₂ systems
Inert Gas systems (IG-55, IG-541 etc.)
Chemical/Clean Agent systems (FM-200, Novec 1230 or equivalent)
Condensed Aerosol systems
Duties include:
Inspection of cylinders, actuators, nozzles, pilot lines, and control interfaces
Electrical and mechanical fault finding
Cause & effect testing and discharge simulations
Interface testing between fire alarm and suppression systems
High-Pressure Water Mist Systems
Service and maintenance of pump and cylinder-based systems
Experience with:
Marioff
Danfoss pump systems
Inspection of pumps, valves, pipework, and nozzles
Mechanical and electrical diagnostics
Cylinder Service & Exchange Coordination
Assist with cylinder removal and replacement
Coordinate servicing/refilling with approved suppliers
Arrange transport and deliveries (primarily London & surrounding areas)
Ensure compliance with regulations relating to pressurised cylinders
Minimise system downtime through effective planning
Room Integrity Testing
General Responsibilities
Deliver small works and remedial upgrades
Complete service reports and compliance documentation accurately
Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment
Participate in call-out rota (if required)
Essential Skills & Experience
Proven experience in fire alarm and suppression servicing
Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
Experience working independently in high-risk or HV environments
Ability to follow strict safety procedures
Full UK driving licence
Desired Qualifications & Training
FIA training modules (fire alarm and/or suppression)
City & Guilds electrical qualifications
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Manufacturer training (e.g. LE2 or equivalent panel training)
ECS / CSCS card
Confined space training (or willingness to undertake training)
Room integrity testing certification (desirable but training available)
